Our Last Day in Kununurra

25th May 2013

Well this morning started much the same as others in Kununurra, with breakfast and a coffee had out the back overlooking the rear of the property onto the Lower Ord River, just a perfect way to start any day.

We spent much of the morning chatting with Jackie & packing things away as tomorrow is the day we make the move into the Northern Territory to continue our adventure. Rachel had arranged to meet up with her friend Justine, who she went to Uni with and had been living in Kununurra for some  10 years now. While her and the kids did that, I went into town and did a food shop to top up supplies for the coming days.

At 3pm we went to the Kimberley Moon Experience (we purchased tickets in Broome), which was an annual open air concert held on the banks of Lake Kununurra which rounded off the week of celebrations for the Ord Valley Muster and coincides with full moon rising.

During the course of the afternoon, Maggie was excited that her second front tooth fell out (with a little assistance from Maggie of course) at the concert.

Maggie very happy to be missing her two front Teef!

It was just a brilliant way to finish our 8 days in Kununurra. We saw some great top end talent in Northern Humm & Leah Flanagan (both if which we purchased CDs of). We were also lucky enough to hear Gurrumul sing live and his voice is just amazing. For those who don't know, Gurrumul is an aboriginal man that was born blind and for most part sings in his native language, it was very special to see.

The night continued with Mark Seymour and James Reyne singing a lot of their classics and was capped off with Guy Sebastian, who put on a really good show and also has a great voice, needless to say we were all up near the stage dancing away, the girls loved it! We left the concert round 10.40pm and headed home for some rest before hitting the road tomorrow.

As I said, it was just the perfect way to end this leg of the trip. Special mention once again must go to Frank & Jackie who have basically treated us like family and given us free run of their home, it is greatly appreciated.
