6th June 2013
We woke this morning to the sound of mozzies still buzzing around outside our van, so we decided to have a slow morning which meant after breakfast we spent some time planning the next few days as well as doing some more journal and schoolwork with the girls.
At around 10am we went back down to Cahill's Crossing and we once again tried our hand at catching a Barramundi. Rach & Mags initially went for a short walk, while Chloe & I tried our luck. When they got back from the walk, Rach decided she wanted to have a fish and managed to get snagged on her 5th cast and broke off, losing my lure. Anyway, after about an hour and half we had had no hits and the tide had turned with the water rushing out, it was time to call it quits and head back to camp for lunch.

After lunch we made the short drive to Ubirr, which is an area in the park which has some of the oldest and best preserved aboriginal rock art in Australia. The walk alone through the area was stunning and along with the art work we saw, it was just amazing. Some areas of Ubirr have traced aboriginal existence back to 20,000 years ago, which is just amazing.

We went back to camp, very satisfied & ready to tackle the onslaught of the mozzies, thankfully that didn't really eventuate! Dont get me wrong, they were there, but only in their hundreds instead of thousands. Maybe the first night was just their way of saying welcome to Kakadu, what ever the reason we are not complaining!
