Corroborree Billabong

1st June 2013

Well we had a bit of a sleep in this morning and woke again to the sounds of the Rainbow Lorikeets at about 7am. After a cooked breakfast with George, we got the fishing gear ready for a day on Corroborree Billabong, trying to catch some Barramundi.

We made the short drive of 30kms from George's house to the billabong and put the boat in for a day on the water.

The billabong was huge, with lots of channels and was a beautiful spot with a lot of bird life and also a high concentration of crocs. We tried lots of different sections of the billabong but unfortunately, no matter how hard we tried we could not land any Barramundi.

The highlights of the day was watching George land a Saratoga, which is a fish I have never seen before and he also caught a Tarpon as well.

The other highlight of the day was watching Chloe and Maggie fishing with lures, they were great. Both of the girls did really well at casting and retrieving the lures and given some of the positions they cast into, were unlucky not to get a fish.

So after about 6hrs, we called it a day and headed back to George's place. The girls had a refreshing swim in the pool and while we were relaxing out the back, Maggie decided that she would make an awards ceremony up for the best efforts on the boat today. She stood up and made a speech before handing out everyone's award, we all found it very funny.

We spent the rest of the night chatting and planning tomorrow, which is another day on the water, this time chasing Mud Crabs, should be good.
